Bee Naree is an Australian children's author, illustrator, and sentimental paint slinger based in Devonport, Lutruwita/Tasmania.

 

She believes in the magic of being different, and most of her stories begin with a feeling, a paintbrush, and a little curiosity about the world around her.

You may have seen Bee's illustrations in The Toad from Poad Road series by Ash Lee, or The Whale and the Astronaut by Alaynah Hensen (Pegasus Publishing).

Her debut picture book, Luma's Light, is a gentle story about finding courage in the darkest places. Hand illustrated in watercolour and written by Bee, it follows a young anglerfish who loses her glow and discovers that the brightest light has been inside her all along.

When she's not writing or painting, Bee is busy wrangling her five kids, folding endless baskets of washing, or politely asking her cats to stop sitting on her laptop and freshly painted illustrations. She's also a qualified family day care educator and teacher assistant, which means she knows children are the most honest (and hilarious) critics—and she wouldn't have it any other way.
